The staff of the Department works on two projects:
Food and Beverage Production Potentials of the
Croatian Mediterranean (Supported by Ministry
of Science and Technology, Republic of Croatia) and
Olive Integrated Pest Menagment in the County
of Split and Dalmatia (Supported by Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry, Republic of Croatia). Within
the first one, monographies of three pests, Dialeurodes
citri (Hom., Aleyrodidae), Phyllocnistis citrella (Lepidoptera)
and Phleotribus scarabeoides (Coleoptera) were completed.
Second project mainly involves the efficacy of mass
trapping method for the control of olive fly. Different
types of traps (based on colour, number per tree, kind
of lure) are included. The distribution and bioecology
of the Cotton whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) in Mediterranean
counties of Croatia have been investigated also.
The collaboration with plant protection scientists
from Croatia and abroad is very active. The staff participates
in many domestic and international conferences
