Newest research
The department collaborates with the Faculty of Forestry
in Zagreb, the Institute of Forestry in Jastrebarsko
and the enterprise "Croatian forests" on the
experimental project about karst problem. It researches
into methods of biological amelioration, the choice
of forest species by afforestation, erosion and the
protection of soil, the influence of fire on the vegetation,
biotope and the landscape in the coastal part of Croatia,
recultivation of damaged soils and the right management
of the karst, by which their present state will be improved
and their durability secured.
In the recent years the department has been working on
the following projects and tasks:
- negative influence on the forest and the augmentation
of their protection,
- management of karst forests for pasture ,
- the choice of forest species by afforestation and
the methods of biological amelioration,
- erosion and the protection of soil on the karst,
- the augmentation of production and stability of
forest ecosystems.
For that aim the permanent experimental plots on the karst
were made. |
