Ph. D. Vlado Topic

Ph. D. Vlado Topic was born on the 20th of July 1947 in Korusce. After finishing primary and secondary school he started studying on the Faculty of Forestry, in the year 1965 and graduated in 1969. He got employed in the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Split in 1971. He got his Master of Science degree in 1979 with his work "The effects of the various amelioration measures on the karst near Sinj" and his Doctor of Science degree in 1989. with the dissertation under the title "The use of decidious and foreign forest species for afforestation of the Submediterranean karst areas of Dalmatia".
He became the scientific expert in 1990 and the higher scientific expert in 2000.

He took an active part in more than twenty scientific meetings in Croatia and abroad. He published 63 scientific and expert works, from which 12 were indexed in the reference paper Cab abstracts. His expert report, presented in the form of studies and programmes for management of forest and forest grounds on the karst, develop that scientific area.

He is the director of the permanent experimental work "Erosion and the protection of the soil on the karst", which is financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Republic of Croatia, and he was the main expert on the project"Management of karst forest for cattle", also financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology (1991-1995).

Ph. D. V. Topic was also the member of the Comittee for degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Science on the Faculty of Forestry in Zagreb.
In 1997 he became the Member of the Academy of Forestry Science and in 1999 its associate member.

Ph. D. V. Topicis the member of the editorial comittee and the editor of the scientific branch "Karst Forest" in the "Forestry Jurnal", the member of Scientific comittee for biotechnical science of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the member of the expert comittee for state prizes for biotechnical sciences, the comittee of Croatia Forestry Society and the president of its branch in Dalmatia, Split.
