About
the department
At the beginning the Department analyzed chemical composition
of soil and controled and propagated usage of artificial
manure. From the 1958 to 1960 method of foliar diagnostics
was introduced and the Department begone to monitor
the influence of fertilization on the yeald and quality
of products of olive, vine, corn and weat. From 1978
until 1980 were introduced methods for determination
of microelements in soil and leaves by atomic absorption
spectrofotometry. The Department has a longtime activity
in controling soil fertility, improvement in managing
and creating new substratum for vegetable, fruit, and
viticulture production. There have been set up fertilizer
tests in colaboration with other Institute departments
so that through those tests fundamental problems of
plant nutrition in production of dominating cultures
of Dalmatia region were solving. Activity of Department
is in solving problems directly connected with production
in the region, and participation in development of economic
basis for new investment programs.
Newest research
The new approach in plant nutrition science today is
integer research of nutrient influences on enviroment
and plant itself. Since the year 2001, through implementation
of ion chromatography, the Department is capable of
analyzing great number of samples from scientific researches,
and also to reply to requirements of the industry in
analysis of water impurities.
